When load-shedding hits, the 12V battery in your car or bike, or a dry battery at home, can still keep your basics running. That’s what the Eastern RN-500 is for. Clip the leads onto a 12V battery, plug your appliance into the universal socket, and you’ve got 230V AC for a fan, some lights, a TV, a laptop or your router. Flip the switch and it’s working, with nothing to wire in.
230V universal socket
The socket takes normal two and three pin plugs, so your appliances run without any adapter.
Clips to 12V
The red and black clip leads in the box connect straight to a car battery or a dry battery. There’s nothing to install.
5V USB port
A built-in USB port charges your phone or a power bank while the AC socket runs an appliance.
Protected and cooled
Reverse polarity protection guards against a wrong clip connection, and a side fan keeps it cool. Red and green lights show fault and power.

What the RN-500 can run
At 500W this is meant for light loads. On a healthy 12V battery it can handle things like:
- A fan, ceiling, table or pedestal, around 50-80W
- LED bulbs and energy savers, a handful at 5-25W each
- A LED TV up to about 32 inches, 40-100W
- A laptop with its charger, 60-120W
- A Wi-Fi router or fibre ONU, 10-25W
- Phone and power bank charging on the USB port
It won’t run heavy or motor loads like a fridge, water pump, iron, microwave, air conditioner or heater. Those pull far more than 500W, especially at start-up, and will overload it.
