The Hi Tech HC-263 changeover switch gives you a simple way to move your load from mains to generator and back with one turn of the handle. It’s a 63A two-pole switch with a 1-0-2 pattern, so position 0 in the middle keeps both sources disconnected until you pick one.

Here’s how people usually wire and use the HC-263:
- Feed your mains supply into one pair of terminals and your generator into the other.
- Take the load out from the common terminals to your board or the circuit you’re switching.
- Turn to 1 for the first source, 0 to disconnect both, and 2 for the second source.
- Keep the load at or under 63A for the pole you’re using.
- Mount it on a panel or inside an enclosure using the bolts that come in the box.
This is a manual switch, so you turn it by hand when the power changes. It doesn’t sense the supply or switch on its own, so for automatic transfer you’d need an ATS instead. Wiring should be done by a qualified electrician.
